<orbifx[m]> It's true they are. And most wont change any time soon, I know. But those of us who can and understand why should, to pave the way.
<orbifx[m]> Hope you will accept patch files or pull from outside Github :)
<companion_cube> I suppose so, yes
<companion_cube> anyway, good luck
<companion_cube> please blog about your workflow ;)

<def`> Anybody to write a web frontend to git in OCaml?
<apache2> someone here who has experience with Bigarray.reshape and friends? I'm trying to achieve a fix on z in a 3d matrix of {x,y,z}
<def`> a fix?
<apache2> but for the love of God I can't see a way to do this with the API :(
<apache2> def`: yes, the documentation for slice_left calls it a "fix on the first coordinate", and "slice_right" "a fix on the last coordinate"
<def`> apache2: ah... I am afraid you will have a hard time :).
<apache2> my array i in c layout so I don't think I can use slice_right though :(
<def`> bigarray are alway contiguous. slice_... is just a trick to interpreter a (contiguous) subsequence as a projection on one coordinate.
<def`> interpret*
<def`> (that is, slice_{left,right} is just a specialized version of sub_{left,right})
<apache2> yes
<def`> I am afraid with your representation, fixing a z won't give a contiguous representation :P
<apache2> very annoying
<def`> In https://github.com/let-def/stb_image/blob/master/stb_image.mli, I need to consider that case for images.
<apache2> def`: you'd have to jump a bit, but you are already jumping based on sizeof(representation) and imaginary coordinates
<def`> That's why the representation is bigarray, offset and stride.
<apache2> ah thank you, will check that out

<RalfJ> Is it normal that after installing opam 2.0~rc2 (via `opam install opam-devel` and then `cp`), `opam --version` still says "2.0.0~rc"?
<RalfJ> also, the docs say I need ro tun `opam init --reinit -ni` to get sandboxing. Do I need to do that once globally or one for each switch?

<discord5> <Perry> Re: Microsoft and Github, it's sort of "meh". The problem is GitLab is not a substitute, as the community effect isn't there. Maybe if there was a way to federate GitLab instances but there isn't.
<RalfJ> kit_ty_kate: `opam install opam-devel` and then `cp ~/.opam/system/.... ~/bin`
<discord5> <Perry> The GitHub pull request mechanism in and of itself is kind of impossible to duplicate with isolated GitLab instances.
<RalfJ> and it offers the new hooks for doing `eval $(opam env)` in bash so it seems like this is indeed the new version, it just screwed up the version number

<kit_ty_kate> RalfJ: what does it gives you if you do `which opam` ?
<RalfJ> kit_ty_kate: /home/r/bin/opam
<RalfJ> I can literally call "/home/r/.opam/system/lib/opam-devel/opam --version" and it will say "2.0.0~rc"
<Drup> did you update/upgrade ?
<RalfJ> here's a more complete log: https://paste.debian.net/1027903/
<RalfJ> Drup: `opam upgrade` didnt actually upgrade opam-devel, so I did `opam install opam-devel.2.0.0~rc2`
<RalfJ> also, it does seem like this is the rc2 as I am getting the new shell hooks
<RalfJ> it just seems to print the wrong thing for the version number

<lbianc> Hi all. I'm facing an issue with ocamlbuild.native for PPC64 architecture. I need to add the parameter "flarge-toc" when the ocamlopt be called, but couldn't find a way through ocamlbuild.native, as when passing the argument with the flag "-cflag" it is added to ocamlc as well. The ocamlc does not accept this parameter. Is there any other way to add this parameter only for ocamlopt?
