<mockturtle> Hi, anyone know if the online tutorials are down permanently? Have they been moved?
<malc> seems like there are server problems in inria
<malc> mailing list seems to be dead too
<mockturtle> darn
<mockturtle> I'm trying to learn ocaml
<malc> what tutorial you were refering to?
<mockturtle> there was a link from ocaml.org to "online tutorials" hosted at inria.fr
<mockturtle> i guess the "official" ones
<malc> try google cache
<mockturtle> alright, thanks
<mockturtle> so "ocaml site:inria.fr"?
<malc> try to find out which tutorial you need first (diging your browser's cache might help)
<mockturtle> heh, i'll muddle through =)
<timmy> does this work
<timmy> caml.inria.fr/oreilly-book/ocaml-ora-book.pdf
gameweld has joined #ocaml
<gameweld> echo, echo
<malc> uh
<gameweld> have you been able to reach the caml.inria.fr website?
<timmy> here is the google view as html page fo that http://216.239.39.100/search?q=cache:SEdw2XBFW8EC:caml.inria.fr/oreilly-book/ocaml-ora-book.pdf+ocaml-ora-book.pdf&hl=en
<gameweld> well I have the book, but I'm not able to get any of the packages and stuff they host
<timmy> oh ok i guess i can't help then
<malc> gameweld: its down
<mockturtle> it looks like it's down
<gameweld> its been down for a while
<gameweld> for the past couple of days
<mockturtle> do you have the pdf?
<mockturtle> send it to me? :)
<malc> gameweld: yep
<gameweld> that's at work, I just have the print out
<gameweld> actually I do have a copy, hold on
<mockturtle> I wish I didn't stop compulsively making local copies of everything I find useful
<gameweld> I'm uploading it to a place so you can get it from the net
<mockturtle> cool
<gameweld> it's about 3 megs, but 757 or so pages!
<gameweld> has anyone in here ever worked with any of the graphics packages?
<gameweld> Does the standard graphics package have the ability to open an actual bitmap file, or do you need something like camlimages to do that?
<malc> gameweld: second
<gameweld> does camlimages only work in linux?
<malc> no clue
<malc> gameweld: write your own bitmap loader, not that hard
<gameweld> not that hard, but why the extra work, duplication of effort waste time that can be spent on more interesting tasks
<malc> if you are learning ocaml, this can be more rewarding than you think
<gameweld> does that work?
<mockturtle> yep, I'm getting it
<gameweld> I worked in regular ml, but I don't know if I have the time for it
<mockturtle> thanks gameweld
<gameweld> welcome
