so... kdbus will probably won't be merged for 4.1-rc1 (see the pull request on the ML), however it is in linux-next... which means that it should be merged for 4.2, no ?
markm has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
<mmind00>
rperier: not really ... in linux-next only means that the subsystem-maintainer thinks its mergable ... and it was in linux-next already for 4.1
<mmind00>
if you look at the lengthy thread on lkml, there are a lot of questions surrounding it ... so it might or might not make it to 4.2

mmind00: indeed... it won't be merged before a while imho... that's also probably better to integrate this feature in next in order to detect bugs, rebase and test with a recent kernel

does kdbus have the same api as dbus, or is it just a kernel message bus with the same naming?

<rperier>
karlp: the dbus api will be compatible with kdbus, kdbus is the low-level implementation of dbus, it replaces the dbus daemon. It will be first implemented in systemd

<naobsd>
amstan: about run time dependencies, it's just kernel with initramfs image, standalone.
