<bmbeach> Wizzup I am not ready yet, it could be about 2 weeks,
<bmbeach> although it might be a lot sooner ( <- whoever heard of such
<bmbeach> a thing in the programming world ). We'll see. As far as the
<bmbeach> patches go this -> is <- for everybody who is interested
<bmbeach> (steev too). As soon as I'm ready I'll leave a note here and
<bmbeach> paste the 1'st patch somewhere. Right now I'm not quite
<bmbeach> clear on what peach-pi is. I think the cpu is a 5800 ( from
<bmbeach> linux-exynos.org) and the only other reference that I could
<bmbeach> find is the sentence "The Exynos 5800 processor is a
<bmbeach> variation product of Exynos 5422 processor". If this is true
<bmbeach> then thats all I need to know. Notice that I am targeting
<bmbeach> peach-pi not snow. snow has a number of problems, includeing
<bmbeach> the melting speaker problem, which is -> not <- caused by
<bmbeach> playing back too loud, is easily fixed ( not by muting ) and
<bmbeach> I don't know if people are getting wrong frequency sound or
<bmbeach> no sound at all. The hardest thing thing for me was to get
<bmbeach> sound at all, by time that happened everything else was
<bmbeach> finished.
<steev> bmbeach: yes, the cpu is a 5800
<bmbeach> okay what machine do you have
<bmbeach> Actually what I looking for is it a variant of the 5420 processor which
<steev> bmbeach: i have pi and snow
<steev> and daisy
<steev> spring*
<bmbeach> is the code that I'm looking at in the kernel
<steev> i don't have the peach pit
<bmbeach> What is happening on snow as far a sound goes ? are you getting sound
<bmbeach> or just pops and clicks ?
<steev> idk, i haven't booted it in ages
<steev> last i knew, sound worked, it was just "fast"
<bmbeach> Maybe you could check it. What about peach-pi.
<bmbeach> What is the sound like?
<steev> sound works, it's just fast
<bmbeach> Okay just like wizzup.
<steev> well, yeah, not sure why it would be different
<bmbeach> Don't really know. You could ask why would snow be different
<bmbeach> since the register address's and the sound architecture are the same
<bmbeach> I.e. they didn't change over the 2 socs
<bmbeach> referring to epll that is.

<mixfix41> well i've only tried it with the sound modules loaded, so Im pretty in need to get some sound modules loaded and i'm sure it should work
<mixfix41> without*
<mixfix41> though thats a symtom with the chromeos kernel also about 3.8.11 and a fedora rootfs is nothing shows in lsmod
<mixfix41> so thats the note in the write up
<mixfix41> Its smarter to tear through these configs given that a lot of th kernels I package after following a write up turns out to be only 3mb which is prety small it could be the default configs. I wonder how the default configs that are scripted with the kernel and on the website might differ
<mixfix41> hmm though this guys kernel image is pretty small too...
