interesting, there is a "Media Device Allocator API", the in-kernel API to help even more with media driver that are shared across multiple other driver (v4l2 frontend, drm, etc)

ndufresne: yes, that's a work my colleage Shuah is doing to share a media dev between a DVB and ALSA drivers
