<krzk>
steev: no, it is not supported because there is no DTS
<steev>
krzk: right - the latter question
<steev>
well, statement
<krzk>
steev: mentioned patchset was never resubmitted
<steev>
ah, so afaerber slacking again :P
<krzk>
there were some comments so I was expecting a follow up with changes
<steev>
seriously though, while looking, i noticed, there's no usb mentioned anywhere in the 5410 dts/dtsi
<steev>
is the support not in the kernel at all, or just no one looked into it
<krzk>
afaerber as doing some of the xu support, one another pesron as well but apparently no one had interest to finish it
<krzk>
as for usb... I don't know if anyone was loking into it

hello
<Wizzup>
hi
<mmuffinman>
hey man. would you happen to have any insight or advice for installing Linux on Galaxy Tab 3 8 (Exynos 4212)? I’ve been looking for FAQs/guides and have been coming up a bit short.
<mmuffinman>
i understand the gist that i would need to root and bootstrap, but not sure what i need to accomplish this
<mmuffinman>
would love Deb/Ubuntu, but I’d be happy with any Linux with Mali support on this thing. wb cool if there was touch driver as well, but not a showstopper. I realize that these are typically highly SoC-specific things (?)
<mmuffinman>
any ideas/suggestions/horror stories i am all ears. thanks
<Wizzup>
mmuffinman: no advice, didn't deal with android devices yet
<Wizzup>
you can see if there is a dts for your device
<mmuffinman>
dts?
<mmuffinman>
i assume teh Android concerns/differences are just the bootstrap right?
<mmuffinman>
dts = source?
<mmuffinman>
sorry man… sort of a newb on ARM/SoC here, but i’ve been wanting to play :-)
<Wizzup>
device tree
<krzk>
mmuffinman: although SoC is in mainline supported but I doubt that periphereal devices are (like touchscreen, modem)
<krzk>
so it will be a pain to customize it by yourself
<krzk>
no mentioning support in bootlader and lack of serial output (unless you already solved that)
<krzk>
probably cyanogen would be the best idea to start with... (on top of vendor kernel)
<mmuffinman>
i see. i appreciate the advice. thank you
<afaerber>
steev, krzk: I have USB working locally, but kgene never bothered to comment on my patches and some needed to go through other trees and never were picked up, prompting only comments to keep rebasing them. in the meantime my fan broke and I am rarely powering it on... feel free to pick up my patches and resubmit if you think you have more luck, they should all have Sobs
<steev>
afaerber: are they in a git somewhere?
<steev>
i don't subscribe to any/many kernel mailing lists
