Wizzup: i have finally stopped using my n9 :(
<libv>
it was getting too battered, and there was nothing useful running on it anymore, especially a good train application was missing from my life, but i still haven't been able to bring myself to properly set up that android phone i now bought
<Wizzup>
I never got an n9
<Wizzup>
Kind of wanted n950, but those are very expensive
<Wizzup>
wrt train application, I just use the browser
<libv>
you can get the n9 new still, apparently, not that many were sold
<libv>
100eur
<libv>
i will probably do that soon, when i get bored enough at my current customer and spend some further time on ebay
<Wizzup>
Not the n900?

libv: I still find people who used a n900 but have no clue about how awesome the device is
<libv>
Wizzup: why do you find it so awesome?
<Wizzup>
hardware keyboard, fm rx/tx, running gnu/linux debian-based os that uses mostly standard ecosystem tools
<Wizzup>
I guess the N9 partially fits that bill too
<Wizzup>
it makes it very nice to quickly hack something together, but also nice that it for example makes it easy to play with usb gadgets

Wizzup: i see
<libv>
Wizzup: how does this hold up after 5-6 years though
<Wizzup>
The main 'annoying' part is 256MB ram
<libv>
are you not experiencing any browser issue or something, websites which refuse to work with the n900?
<Wizzup>
probably lots.
<Wizzup>
it's firefox 3.5 based
<Wizzup>
And maemo rarely gets updated, but people are working on that
<Wizzup>
and mainline support is actually decent - so it's also possible to run a recent (custom) distro+recent kernel
