<javier__> Wizzup: yeah, Marvell WiFi-Ex support should be enabled in exynos_defconfig
<javier__> Wizzup: not so sure about fw user-mode helper fallback, I would like to know why the in-kernel fw loading is not working
Nemykal_ has joined #linux-exynos
<Wizzup> javier__: I actually didn't get it to work on linux-next yet, even with fw loader
<Wizzup> It worked on the dp-integ + extra patches though...
<Wizzup> It told me it could not find the firmware, which is really old
<Wizzup> odd*
<Wizzup> Perhaps the kernel had a weird firmware path...
<Wizzup> anyhow, I am going to re-do snow in a bit, it's been a while since I did the whole procedure and I need to make a new dev sd card anyway
<Wizzup> Might as well do it with mainline u-boot now
<javier__> Wizzup: just posted a patch to enable Marvell WiFi-Ex support in exynos_defconfig

<Wizzup> javier__: cool
<javier__> Wizzup: strange, the firmware lib path is the same and I got wifi to work with linux-next on snow
<javier__> (but had to enable the user-mode helper fallback)
<Wizzup> yeah, it's odd. It was running late and it was my fifth rebuild or something
<Wizzup> Yeah, I did that too
<javier__> I'm trying to get wifi to work on peach pit/pi
<Wizzup> And then it actually printed it could not find the file (even with user space)
<javier__> I already have the patch but hit a bug in the dw_mmc driver
<Wizzup> ah

<javier__> Wizzup: hi, did you solve issue of the firmware not being loaded?
<javier__> I worked around the dw_mmc error but on my peach pit I got:
<javier__> [ 4.936973] mwifiex: rx work enabled, cpus 8
<javier__> [ 4.937353] mwifiex_sdio mmc1:0001:1: Direct firmware load for mrvl/sd8897_uapsta.bin failed with error -2
<javier__> [ 4.937356] mwifiex_sdio mmc1:0001:1: Falling back to user helper
<javier__> [ 11.759465] mwifiex_sdio mmc1:0001:1: firmware image not found! Terminating download
<javier__> [ 11.766113] mwifiex_sdio mmc1:0001:1: prog_fw failed ret=0xffffffff
<Wizzup> I had exactly that problem
<Wizzup> and no, didn't fix it yet
<javier__> Wizzup: great, have to leave now but I'll take a look at it later
<Wizzup> awesome

<javier__> Wizzup: you need to rever commit 68ff2a00dbf5 firmware_loader: handle timeout via wait_for_completion_interruptible_timeout() to have fw loading working again
<Wizzup> Ack; is that the long term solution or is there a problem in that commit?
<javier__> Wizzup: dunno, I just found that is the offending commit that caused the regression on linux-next
<javier__> have to look at the change to see if I can find an evident error
<Wizzup> ack
<javier__> won't do it today though, I've to leave now to enjoy my sunday :)
<Wizzup> :) have fun
<Wizzup> for me, this is basically the opposite
<Wizzup> hobby in the weekend ...
<javier__> Wizzup: oh, I do enjoy it as well
<Wizzup> :)
<javier__> is just that my family is not that happy with me spending all the weekend in front of the computer ;)
<javier__> later!

<si1v3r_> I don't know if it's just the kernel, but this is noticably faster.
<Wizzup> 'this'?
<si1v3r_> Got x working on my peach pit. :D
<si1v3r_> All I had to do was run X -configure, and then use that config. Run time probing wasn't working.
<Wizzup> if you do not need hdmi, use fbturbo
<Wizzup> it's soooo much faster
<Wizzup> hdmi works with fbturbo too, but only on same res as internal dp
