<hste>
jas-hacks: hi. Have u done some nice hacks lately? I saw I had lost net to my box, but its online again now
<jas-hacks>
hste: hi, was trying to get some OpenCL code to work but the imx6 implementation isn't that good.
<jas-hacks>
hste: Haven't heard from you in quite a while, still going strong with the GK802?
<hste>
jas-hacks: I havn't had time to play with it much lately, but its running. uptime 63 days :) Working on making a homelab with some leftovers from work
<dv_>
jas-hacks: so no using opencl for pixel format conversions?
<jas-hacks>
dv_: 'opencl EP' seems to be crippled to for anything useful
<jas-hacks>
hste: what is the homelab hosting?
<dv_>
damn :/
<hste>
jas-hacks: at the moment nothing. Traing to decide what I'll use. vsphere or proxmox. Think I'll use proxmox as I can have both containers and vm's.
<hste>
jas-hacks: its only 64GB 2x6core intel 5640 on that box, waiting for another box with 192GB that should be ready soon
<jas-hacks>
hste: you get them for free?
<hste>
jas-hacks: yes else we would have to pay to get rid of them
<hste>
jas-hacks: next year we are trowing out some blade with 512GB and 2x8cores
<hste>
jas-hacks: they are 4 years old so its cheaper to buy new ones than extend support
<jas-hacks>
hste: so you need a rack for box?
<hste>
jas-hacks: I only stable them. don't have a place to put a big rack that is waf
<dv_>
so. I have been developing a small library as an alternative to the VPU wrapper.
<dv_>
one that avoids several big design issues the wrapper has
<dv_>
but I need a name for the thing :) currently I call it "imxvpucodec"
<dv_>
imx-vpu is taken, so is vpu-wrapper
<hste>
dv_: I guess a better alternative too :)
<dv_>
ideas?
<dv_>
hste: well for one, it makes it possible to associate input and output frames by using user-defined IDs
<dv_>
this is how most media frameworks operate
<jas-hacks>
dv_: is it replacing the fsl vpu wrapper?
<dv_>
also, it takes care of several format specific peculiarities
<dv_>
jas-hacks: at the moment it uses the vpu wrapper inside, but the plan is to be an alternative and use the imx-vpu lowlevel lib directly, yes
<jas-hacks>
dv_: imxvpulib
<dv_>
yeah I like that one, although it is close to "imx-vpu"
<jas-hacks>
or may imxvpudvlib
<jas-hacks>
/s/may/may be
<jas-hacks>
dv_: imxvpumedialib
<dv_>
hmm
<jas-hacks>
dv_: Noticed the wayland commits, is it working?
<dv_>
yes
<dv_>
not fully finished (embedded is not done yet), and navigation will probably not work atm (but thats because I cannot really test it ... navigation is mostly used for DVD menus)
<dv_>
embedded meaning: embed video in a UI
<dv_>
but I kinda like wayland. the API is quite different from X11, but a lot of the stuff just makes sense.
* dv_
is getting some food
<jas-hacks>
hste: those boxes are still quite chunky, you could run a data centre on them :)
<hste>
jas-hacks: yes :) Do you want a vps? :)
<hste>
jas-hacks: Total of 24 processors activated (109343.80 BogoMIPS)
<jas-hacks>
hste: your electricity cost will be high
<hste>
jas-hacks: the box is running at about 300W with disks etc.
<hste>
jas-hacks: but most of the time I need some heating on in the basement to keep it dry so it will not be so much extra till what I have now
