<ec>
hi!
<nuck>
HOLY SHIT YOU'RE ALIVE
<nuck>
HI EC
<ec>
lol Iβm at D&D
<ec>
how r u
Sgeo_ has joined #elliottcable
Sgeo__ has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds]
<jfhbrook>
ahahaha
<ec>
Iβm 30 in 30 minutes
<jfhbrook>
it's a good age honestly
<jfhbrook>
happy birthday
<jfhbrook>
30 is when I quit cigarettes
<ec>
thix
<jfhbrook>
I turned 32 this summer so, uh, 2 years strong
<jfhbrook>
ec: you ever fuck w/ emacs?
<jfhbrook>
I decided to kick the tires on org-mode the other day and it's sucking me in like a bottomless pit
<ec>
nope
<ec>
only vim and vscode
<jfhbrook>
don't do emacs
<jfhbrook>
oh, so the thing w/ emacs is
<ec>
donβt do vim
<ec>
bleh programming stuff
<jfhbrook>
the defaults are garbage, but underneath it runs a general purpose scheme-like
<jfhbrook>
so people have published frameworks you can install, which is basically you doing a git clone
<jfhbrook>
many of which include libraries for vim bindings
<jfhbrook>
so my experience w/ emacs (using spacemacs) is 80% vim bindings I already know + a bunch of "what the fuck is this"
<jfhbrook>
accidentally got dumped into a special diffing mode and was very ??!?!
<jfhbrook>
the other day
<jfhbrook>
it can do a lot
<ec>
so i hear
<ec>
idc much i mostly use vscode
<jfhbrook>
yeah but can vscode serve http? :)
<ec>
with vim whenever i need a new window which vscode wonβt let you do
<ec>
but like βi mostly useβ as in like two years ago when i was a programmer
<jfhbrook>
you're not a programmer now?
<jfhbrook>
I feel like you were talking about ocaml just a few months ago
<ec>
i do still manage to open my laptop once every two or three weeks
<ec>
stare at my parser work a bit, make no progress tho
<ec>
did so yesterday, that was nice
<jfhbrook>
yeah
<ec>
idk all i do is play rimworld
<jfhbrook>
the thing that really truly unlocked me being able to work on stuff consistently was adhd medication
<ec>
canβt have that
<jfhbrook>
which I have a lot of complicated feelings about
<jfhbrook>
but it works I guess
<jfhbrook>
the bad thing about the adhd medication is that it wears off at night
<jfhbrook>
I'm frickin' ballistic during the day but then turn back into dr kelp at night
