I am digging through an old log from 2013
<vilhalmer>
I miss purr
<vilhalmer>
purr was a good bot
<ec>
purr was good and pur(r)e
<ec>
hey vilhalmer we were just taking about you ๐คฃ
<vilhalmer>

<vilhalmer>

<ec>
nope not at all
<ec>

<vilhalmer>

iโm building a programming language to make programming more accessible to young folk of all backgrounds
<ec>
wait rephrase: iโm *being paid to* build a programming language to โฆ
dsamarin has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<gkatsev>
ec is being paid to make a language, do pigs fly?
<gkatsev>
:P
<jfhbrook>
they do now!
<gkatsev>
congrats, btw
<jfhbrook>
yeah no that's def a good thing, was tbh worried ec was doomed to wander the earth
<jfhbrook>
oh I wrote non-trivial go this weekend!
<jfhbrook>
I hit up vimeo about a microservices engineer position, they have a massive php app they wanna break out into go services and they were like, I bet you can't write a load balancer in go
<jfhbrook>
and I was like, challenge accepted
<jfhbrook>
so uh, yeah, I wrote a not great load balancer in go this weekend
<jfhbrook>
it's a small language with juuuuust enough niceties to be decent
<jfhbrook>
despite all of its flaws warts and missing features
<jfhbrook>
I think I'm gonna work for someone else that uses go though, their recruiter was not all that pumped and it sounds like the interesting bits are already spun out, this would be breaking up their CMS
<jfhbrook>
which, like
<jfhbrook>
I've worked on enough CMSs
<ljharb>
ec: i donโt recall if you did or not, but thatโs cool
<ec>
jfhbrook: ๐คฃ
<ec>
still wandering the earth
<ec>
negotiated up to a ton of work-remotely-while traveling time, in addition to the bullshit โunlimitedโ vacation days
