I'm feeling a bit daft but uh ... how do I get the bot to change names after it is up and connected?
<dominikh>
bot.nick = "new nick"
<lagweezle>
I'll go put a dunce hat on now, and stand in the corner...
<dominikh>
there are no corners in this room
<lagweezle>

I remember seeing tidbits related to a common 'storage' for cinch. Built in. But that is deprecated / not in development / etc. Plans for picking that up again? I mean, in the vaugely near future...
<dominikh>
lagweezle: some guy in here worked on that, but he vanished
<lagweezle>
dominikh: Ahh.. :/
<dominikh>
personally I don't develop features for Cinch anymore.
<lagweezle>
Not to worry. If I felt more clueful I would try to revive the thing, but I'm still pretty new to the language.

<catepillar>
are you looking for something more sophisticated than shared?
<lagweezle>
Hmm. On that subject ... Cinch::Plugins::Storage or such seems like a reasonable namespace to set up a global interface in plug in land, but is there something better?
<lagweezle>
I guess I'm thinking along the lines of .. maybe a mix in? Something that would be accessible from Cinch::Plugin to make attaching easy and obvious.
<lagweezle>
(This is where my lack of experience hurts.)
<lagweezle>
catepillar: No. I'm good with shared.
<dominikh>
shared isn't persistent :)
<lagweezle>
shared/persistent is what I'm after.
<dominikh>
fwiw, the persistent storage design wasn't ever intended to also offer shared access
<lagweezle>
Arg. Hard to not confuse which bot framework I'm talking about right now. Work is a Python (and other stuff) shop, so we have a bot there on a Python framework.
<lagweezle>
dominikh: Ah. Intersting.

I feel like other people have solved the storage issue. Just put an orm on it.
