hey do you guys have any ideas why cinch wouldn't be able to connect to freenode?
<jayferd>
the box has a firewall, but it's configured to allow all outgoing traffic
<jayferd>
and irssi works just fine
<jayferd>
but TCPSocket.new('irc.freenode.net', 6667) hangs in irb
<jayferd>
i'm not a huge networking buff, but any vague directions of where to look would be much appreciated

scottstamp: I just want to check that you meant to use /^!*./ instead of /^!.*/ in your thing?
<leftylink>
oh dear, I'm a bit out of date. oh whale
<leftylink>
when my bot finds itself momentarily unable to connect to a network, it reconnects. Great! When it does this I have found that it doesn't set the user modes I would like it to. any way to do that?
<leftylink>
hmm, weird, I am seeing that pull request 116 tried to fix this. running cinch 2.0.9 and I am still not getting this. interesting
