<mnemoc> thank you!
<whitequark> you're welcome
<libv> Turl: removing references might be good :)
<libv> i really really dislike the Mali-400 page#
<libv> how on earth is anyone ever going to be able to figure out how to set things up?
<Turl> whatlinkshere makes it easy to spot and kill references
<libv> the first get nonsense background info, then get told a load of crap about the different blobs available somewhere, then the lima driver is being talked about, and only then there is some stuff about getting things actually working.
<Turl> there's even a PowerVR page
<libv> wtf.+
<Turl> DirectX o.O
<libv> you know, if there is nothing sunxi specific in there, maybe the pages should get deleted
jochensp has joined #linux-sunxi
<mnemoc> A31 has PowerVR.... unfortunatelly
<mnemoc> but duplicating wikipedia is kind of... meh
<Turl> what does directx have to do?
<libv> if it is not relevant for sunxi, it should go
<Turl> libv: +1
* mnemoc nods

<Turl> "DirectX 9.3 is supported by the PowerVR SGX544 GPU used in Allwinner A31 SoC under Windows RT (which could be said to be Windows 8 for ARM SoCs)."
<Turl> I don't think that qualifies as truly relevant

<sky770> EOMA ? :|
<sky770> ^ :D
<mnemoc> meh
<sky770> mnemoc ..

<sky770> 12/24 hr stand down~ ?
<rellla> wiki is very very blown up with common wikipedia sh.. imo all this should be cleared out.
<mnemoc> rellla: it's a wiki, be bold :)
<libv> rellla: if you have some spare time on your hands, please do
<Turl> ok, got in :)
* libv is still hashing out a binary driver installation page
* rellla expected this reactions ;)
<libv> i will decimate the mali-400 page afterwards
<libv> so please keep away from that one for a bit
<rellla> i promised to refactor the debian pages a while ago .....
<libv> also, mentions of chmod 777 /dev/whatever should get killed
<rellla> but nothing happened so far :(
<libv> i am adding the udev info to the new binary drivers page
<libv> we have no opencl drivers
<libv> kill.
<libv> Turl: please decide for yourself, if there is nothing sunxi relevant in there, it gets deleted
<libv> it's a wiki, it can be reinstated
<Turl> ok then
<Turl> the powervr page looks like something released by a marketing department
<Turl> libv: do we have working OpenVG?
<libv> nope, no binaries for that.

<rellla> haha, Turl does a firstperson-shooting in the wiki
<whitequark> btw fixed a few ui oddities in irclogger
<whitequark> worked in chrome 20, failed in chrome 24 for weird reasons
<mnemoc> whitequark: it worked fine in my chrome 24 on ubuntu

<mnemoc> Turl: with a reasonable refresh rate I suppose
<mnemoc> not every second
<whitequark> Turl: it is now
<whitequark> Ctrl+F5 if it doesn't
<whitequark> that's what I fixed.
<mnemoc> :D
<whitequark> mnemoc: it uses server-sent events to do instant updates.
* mnemoc never tested that feature
<mnemoc> whitequark: wow
* mnemoc needs to learn to do that stuff
<mnemoc> document.refresh() is probably too 90s
<whitequark> it is actually pretty simple; server just streams updates in html and client appends them
* sky770 erm..good 'ol irc logging? :D
<Turl> testing testing :)
<Turl> heh it's realtime
<whitequark> Turl: indeed it is :D
<Turl> it's like being on irc, without being on irc
<Turl> kind of creepy too if you think of it
* whitequark shrugs
<whitequark> it's irc logging taken to the logical extreme
<whitequark> because why not
<Turl> rellla: got bored of shooting on the wiki, feel free to continue :P
<rellla> should kill Turl, he deleted too much ;)
<Turl> rellla: http://linux-sunxi.org/Special:Contributions/Rocker go there and look for irrelevant pages
<Turl> there's an adobe flash page :|
<mnemoc> uh
<rellla> Turl: i recently did a fly over his contributions and was wondering how much he released...
* whitequark has 460M or logs, or 2999656 rows
<whitequark> .цс
whitequark has left #linux-sunxi [#linux-sunxi]
* mnemoc lost all his irc logs older than 1998 :<
<Turl> that's a lot of logs :o
<rellla> is there something relevant to sunxi on the whole cryptographic section? http://linux-sunxi.org/TrustZone, http://linux-sunxi.org/CryptoDev, http://linuhttp://linux-sunxi.org/NCRx-sunxi.org/OpenSSL, http://linux-sunxi.org/GnuTLS, http://linux-sunxi.org/LUKS
<mnemoc> started doing irc back in 1995 ... not sure if I'm unhappy to have lost my pre-linux irc logs :p
<Turl> rellla: basically I'd use this rule of thumb
<Turl> rellla: does it have relevant, sunxi specific information? does it have instructions for sunxi devices? is it a sunxi topic that's being discussed? -> it's kept
<Turl> rellla: is it something you'd find on wikipedia or elinux wiki? is it marketing speech/spam? -> kill
<mnemoc> they can be shrunk to one line + external link to wikipedia
<mnemoc> just to let [[TrustZone]] work
<Turl> I just used whatlinkshere and killed the [[refs]]
<Turl> there aren't that many
<rellla> Turl, mnemoc: ok, seems to be clear. but i feel very uncertain about deleting wrong things... first my head needs to get clear for that after going home from work.
<Turl> rellla: there's a revert button, don't worry much :)
<rellla> and maybe then i should first try to get my cubie work, or the new amlogic device, or clean up my git-repository or... sh... too much projects for one evening :D

<libv> someone really should get up to scratch with debian and rpm packaging and then go through many of our manual things, and package one after the other
<ice_> hey guys
<libv> a rootfs with everything included is nice, but somewhere to apt-get install from is better
<ice_> any idea how to properly do a "bzip2 -dc a10-debian-server-2gb.img-*.bz2 > /dev/sda1" but under windows with decent tools?
<ice_> all my linux boxes are down at home :p
<Turl> ice_: 7zip to unpack the bz2
<Turl> then use win32imagewriter
<ice_> ah yeah win32imagewriter
<libv> that way, the howto i just wrote up could just be "apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-mali", and then the dependencies could be gotten, the xorg.conf could be installed, the udev files, etc...
<libv> same thing for rpm based distributions
<libv> it is not hardcore development, and it is not filling up our wiki with wikipedia nonsense
<libv> but it is very very useful
<Turl> libv: there was someone working on that
<libv> who?
<Turl> don't recall :|
<Turl> let me check my logs
<Turl> #arm-netbook_20130215.log:[18:29:30] <bfree> mnemoc: been a long time coming (like my cubie) but http://dl.linux-sunxi.org/niall/debian/ has some first experimental debian packages for kernel and u-boot (built on/for unstable). Both are dirty, based on *.orig.tar.?z which are just archives of linux-sunxi git head. Just a dumb flat unsigned apt-ftparchive "repository" there so "deb http://dl.linux-sunxi.org/niall/debian/ ./" (or deb-src) for
<mnemoc> zumbi is a DD and he is supposed to be going to maintain http://packages.linux-sunxi.org/debian/
<mnemoc> at least he created the struct is already there
<libv> mnemoc: cool!
<libv> mnemoc: sadly it all seems a month old already
<mnemoc> yes, he needs you to "remind" him :)

<libv> Turl: and do we not have the rest of the info in our uboot code?
ice_ has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
<Turl> libv: I got that with a10-meminfo
<Turl> I'm going to use the frequency as an excuse to upgrade my kernel and uboot :p
<bfree> I took on the kernel (ick) and uboot as first steps and the above links have preview 0 of the packaging ... sunxi-tools is next (should be very easy) so there is enough to get a board up. only when those 3 were in a sane state was I planning on trying to figure out wtf to do about the video stuff :-p
<bfree> ~4.5h native kernel compile on the cubie now (much expanded config) doesn't help ;) and I'm off to try some local shops for a nokia cable I can turn into a TTL cause it's no fun just trying to guess what you have done wrong (though so far I've managed)
<Turl> mnemoc: what's the right uboot branch, sunxi-current or sunxi?
<mnemoc> not sure what's the state of sunxi-current
<mnemoc> surely worths a try
<libv> first spin of http://linux-sunxi.org/Binary_drivers is up
<Turl> mnemoc: I don't have an sd reader on this pc, so I'd rather have it work on first try
<Turl> should I use sunxi then?
<mnemoc> yes
