<cosm> there was a longer discussion about that a few hours ago if you want to check the log
<ferric> will do, thx

<hramrach> hmm, I am disappointed. the media player included on a rk3188 tablet canot play 720p video which an a13 tablet can
<hramrach> the screen resolution of the a13 tablet is much smaller but still
<hramrach> what is the point of a full hd tablet if you cannot even play 720p video on it ..
<viric> you can have full HD static pictures
<hramrach> you can have that without a tablet. buy a poster
<viric> good idea
<hramrach> definitely. posters are much better than tablets at static pictures
<cosm> hramrach: try another player
<cosm> in the worst case, 720p should work even with software decoding

<cosm> a small update regarding the tablet
<cosm> I've set up the ssd2828 pins, the driver is registering
<cosm> I've totally hacked a generic mipi screen config file
<cosm> nothing is happening
<cosm> so I took more of it apart to find the LCD model number
<cosm> that says the model number is B080XAN01.0
<cosm> and the good news is that there's a lcd_B080XAN02_mipi.c in a few of the kernel trees
<cosm> I also took out the scope to probe stuff around SSD2828 when running android to see where and what kind of waveforms I should see on the LCD side and on the MIPI side if something is working
<cosm> so hopefully I'll be able to actually see if I'm making any progress
<cosm> the annoying thing is that it feels like the case is getting loose from all my mucking around with it, so I think I should leave it off
<cosm> which means that I can't use the tablet (with android)
<cosm> oh, and the vendor got back to me basically saying that they're using an ODM and they don't have the source but they've "contacted their engineers" to see if they can "get hold of the kernel source code"
<ferric> lol
<cosm> hey, at least they've replied withing 24hrs :P
<cosm> *within
<ferric> that's huge
<ferric> who'se the vendor?
<cosm> now, I don't think the ODM will be as open so... there's that
