<karlp> Vladislav: it's quiet here, bursts of activity from lots of idlers
<Vladislav> A question about radxa , linux and framebuffer rotation. Does anybody experienced?
<karlp> it's _always_ best to just ask the question straight away, maybe someone could have replied already :)
_massi_ has joined #linux-rockchip
<Vladislav> So))) question is above
<karlp> so what, you're going to way for someone to say, "yes" and _then_ you'll ask the question you actually want to ask?
<Vladislav> Did you face before with this issue?
<Vladislav> Because someone who faced, already know what means my questions. If you are interested, i can describe you a problem.

<MadSpark> Vladislav: I don't have experience with radxa but fbcon rotation shouldn't be radxa specific so fbcon=rotate should work fine?

<tonikasch> hi m1r
<m1r> hi tonikasch
<m1r> any progress ?
<tonikasch> mmm, some documentation progress, how it is clear that RK3X VPU is in fact a On2 Hantro G1 (decoder) + H1(encoder)
<tonikasch> On2 was bought by Google in... 2008? 2010? well, the fact is that on2 page pertains to webmproject, so I have asked them for the code :p
<m1r> does that mean we could use it without hybris ?
<tonikasch> it could be the case :)

<tonikasch> I have tried to find a lot of things on this using hardware ids (9190, 8270 and 4831)
<tonikasch> what I have found so far is this
<tonikasch> a gstreamer plugin for x170 (8170)
<tonikasch> I have found it is on2 by searching for the hardware ids contained in Rockchip_4.2_release_libstagefright/4.2_jb_release/libstagefright/libvpu/common/vpu_drv.c
<tonikasch> VPU_DEC_ID_9190 = 0x6731,
<tonikasch> VPU_ID_8270 = 0x8270,
<tonikasch> VPU_ID_4831 = 0x4831,

<tonikasch> in fact, I have also found a message from olegk0 from some time ago confirming this

<m1r> tonikasch: have you tried gstreamer for 8170 ?
<tonikasch> no...

<honx> not really linux related, but has anyone of you ever used the RKBatchtool to generate an update.img for a rockchip device? the only manual i have is in chinese...
<tonikasch> sorry, no guess, but... waita second I search something on my machine!
<tonikasch> rkflashkit, for linux, honx
<tonikasch> it has an utility to create such images, if I recall well
<tonikasch> but I read somewhere else of such an script
<tonikasch> to create update.img from files
<tonikasch> sorry, I don't remember now
<honx> ah, ok. i'll have a look.
<honx> most of the stuff i find is for rk3066 and i need to update an rk2928. but the tools should work the same. i just have to get the right files & settings..
<tonikasch> honx, http://wiki.radxa.com/Rock/flash_the_image#Using_RKBatchTool_to_flash_update.img <-- perhaps could be of some help for you
<tonikasch> mmm, in windows utils a change of code was needed to make them work from rk3066 to rk3188 so...
<tonikasch> even in linux loots
<tonikasch> tools
<honx> yes, i know the radxa tools. they even have docs on how to generate update.img. but it seems to work for their boards mostly and is for linux. i'm trying to create an update.img for an android system..
<honx> but thanks a lot for your help! i'll try those tools/links above :)
<tonikasch> np :)

<tonikasch> hey, do you know how to fix a library complaining when being loaded that "undefined symbol: __sF"?
<tonikasch> I cannot rebuild the library as it is a binary blob given by manufacturer...
<tonikasch> any ideas?

<honx> does this help maybe? http://dan.drown.org/android/worknotes.html
<honx> i'd guess the manufacturer used a different libc-version for compiling thant what you have for running it.
<tonikasch> yes, of course, it's an android-based library, but...
<honx> are you trying to run a library meant for android under linux?
<tonikasch> :\ yes, trying to patchelf it so it loads what might be needed
<tonikasch> I know, I don't know what I'm doing but... desperate try
<honx> i think libhybris is intended to do this kind of stuff, but i've never used it...
<tonikasch> honx I have both android with hybris support and patch built, the generated libraries copied to target device and libhybris built against android headers extracted from android source but... once done
<tonikasch> what to do, once done?
<honx> no idea, sorry :-/
m1r1 has quit [Ping timeout: 268 seconds]
<tonikasch> well, don't worry ;) I'll ask on #libhybris
<honx> i found a working unpacker for update.img archives by the way. now i can unpack an existing one, modify it and repack it..
<tonikasch> :D
<honx> ok, moment of truth. i'll try an update. either it works or the system is bricked...either way i'll be finished with my work today ;)

<honx> nice! it worked...created a custom update package and the device found it, checked it, applied it and boots ok with the new version... :)
<tonikasch> :D
<honx> i'm updating an rk2928-based wifi dmi display dongle, btw...one of those cheap miracast/widi things.
<tonikasch> ahmm
