<lkcl> mozzwald: we're getting this question a lot, and it's not an appropriate one. the question that should be asked, is, "how can i help make sure that the campaign succeeds".
<lkcl> mozzwald: sorry, i've had to answer that question about 8 times in the past 3 days, so i'm going to answer it by asking people to redirect their time and energy - especially not wasting MY time and energy - and to focus on helping spread the word instead. much better and more productive use of time, yes?
<mozzwald> lkcl: i understand, and figured it had been asked, but couldn't find an answer
<mozzwald> curious because lilliputing states that if you hit 100k then you have enough to produce, but crowd supply docs say you must hit the goal
<mozzwald> anyways, i'm doing what i can to spread the word and I hope it succeeds

<lkcl> mozzwald: thx mozzwald
<lkcl> mozzwald: i've spoken privately to joshua - with a "normal" crowdfunding campaign, you have a spread of pledges that accurately reflect the items.
<lkcl> and usually you have a single item anyway
<lkcl> or, if there are two (or more) they're roughly the same cost... or at the absolute most they're like 5:1
<lkcl> *or* you're just not expecting there to be that many of the "minor, low-cost" items
<lkcl> here it's totally different
<lkcl> the discrepancy is 20:1 between the highest and lowest
<lkcl> and the number of small items (computer cards) is WAY higher.
<lkcl> so, counter-intuitively, if we get a larger number of Computer Cards, the maths shows us that the available cash goes *DOWN* not up!

<buZz> lkcl: but that doesnt really mean anything , does it?
<buZz> lkcl: i mean, will the campaign work with less than 100% funding or not, is the question
<buZz> just that the laptop costs more
<buZz> yeh we can see that :P
<buZz> so will the laptop costing more drag down the entire campaign and cause it to not happen?

<lkcl> buZz: i don't know!!
<lkcl> buZz: what i do know is, if we stop fricking focussing on the fricking question which is taking up my fricking time fricking answering it
<lkcl> buZz: and fricking well help with the fricking campaign instead
<lkcl> buZz: it's much more likely to be a success!!!!
<lkcl> buZz: the laptop costing more **INCREASES** the success of the campaign
<lkcl> buZz: i've written that program http://rhombus-tech.net/crowdsupply/assess_campaign.py - please run it and experiment for yourself instead of forcing me to keep on answering the question
<lkcl> buZz: or, better yet, *help with the campaign*!!!!
<Gamayun> Hit 65k! :)
<buZz> well i've been spamming it around ;)
<SPG> Luke Leighton master fa45295 source crowdsupply/assess_campaign.py add moq assessment * http://git.hands.com/?p=rhombus.git;a=commitdiff;h=fa45295
<lkcl> Gamayun: yehhh - nearly there for the MOQ on PCMCIA sockets. 86%.
<lkcl> Gamayun: 288 on the computer cards - that means we get a much better rate on them than i previously estimated (MOQ 250)
<lkcl> buZz: ^^^^ can you see, as the numbers go up, the assessments go down... but i *can't tell you* because it takes a good 2-4 weeks for the factory to redo the pricing based on the new quantity?
<lkcl> buZz: so the answer is, *i don't know and can't tell you*. what i do know is: above a certain threshold the answer's guaranteed to be "yes".
<buZz> heh
<lkcl> buZz: yeh? :)
<buZz> yeah i wanted to know if you knew the threshold
<lkcl> buZz: not at all. i'm guessing somewhere north of $100k.
<buZz> aw ok
<buZz> well i'll keep spamming
<lkcl> buZz: all my time and energy right now is focussed on answering questions, creating videos, thinking of things to do, and so on.
<buZz> yeah thats running a crowdfunding
<lkcl> buZz: i can't even remember how to deal with git right now :)
<buZz> no worries
<lkcl> buZz: i can manage "git commit, push and pull" :)
<lkcl> buZz: http://hands.com/~lkcl/scrn.png - that's my screen at the moment
<lkcl> buZz: notice the THIRTY "pinned" tabs at the top? 18 of those are for the campaign... i have around 200 "unpinned" tabs... :)
<buZz> ;) i'm also addicted to manytabs
<Gamayun> lkcl: Maybe more people can be directed here or to mailing list for answers. Only found the channel when I realised there must be one and went looking ;)
<buZz> i remember it existing from what lkcl mentioned in a video
<buZz> but been idleing here a while
<lkcl> Gamayun: heh. it's mentioned... but there's a lot to read. can't really simplify things! the mailing list is there on the faq, i just added the irc
