2014-10-29 00:21 fsck KDE! http://wstaw.org/m/2014/10/29/plasma-desktopqh1874.png 2014-10-29 01:11 lot sof tabs, lots of ads ? :) 2014-10-29 01:13 memleaking, kinda 2014-10-29 01:14 particularly all browsers seem to never free memory before you quit all cilds / forked instances 2014-10-29 01:15 and flash prolly worst of them all 2014-10-29 01:15 or maybe JS, dunno 2014-10-29 01:16 seems JS stuff stays in mem until all browser instances close 2014-10-29 01:16 iceweasel? 2014-10-29 01:16 nope 2014-10-29 01:16 which? 2014-10-29 01:16 konqueror mainly, though very same issue with FF 2014-10-29 01:17 oh 2014-10-29 01:17 yeah 2014-10-29 01:17 they do this 2014-10-29 01:17 chrome does this less 2014-10-29 01:18 FF even worse, it seems to never stop eating mem even for a simple page with only a few JS elements that update every minute 2014-10-29 01:18 yes 2014-10-29 01:18 aka why I don't use FF 2014-10-29 01:18 chrome eats about a gig and stays there, which is fine to me, I have 10 2014-10-29 01:18 well, chromium. 2014-10-29 01:18 8 here 2014-10-29 01:22 i wish browsers would simply stop whatever creeps and crawls in a tab if the tab isn't selected 2014-10-29 01:23 wpwrak: they do so, to a degree 2014-10-29 01:26 an army of chromium-browser processes running at a few % CPU each tells me that a higher degree would be nice ... 2014-10-29 01:26 indeed 2014-10-29 01:26 i mean, i have four cores but i didn't get them for such nonsense .. 2014-10-29 01:27 http://wstaw.org/m/2014/10/29/plasma-desktopBw1874.png http://wstaw.org/m/2014/10/29/plasma-desktopot1874.png 2014-10-29 01:29 n8 2014-10-29 01:50 atommann has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 02:01 I stopped using Flash sometime ago. (Main computer). 2014-10-29 02:07 BTW, sometime ago I tried to write some code to restrict the amount of memory Chrome could use but I failed. LD_PRELOAD is seen as security risk so it's not easy to do it with Chromium, I think it forks and discards the environment (not 100% sure). I gave up. https://github.com/arhuaco/ram-is-mine 2014-10-29 02:09 arhuaco: use cgroups. 2014-10-29 02:09 cgroups are the only reliable method to restrict memory usage on linux 2014-10-29 02:11 whitequark: Good. I'll take a look when I need this again (laptop). 2014-10-29 02:14 rejon has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 02:38 Textmode has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 02:59 nicksydney has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 2014-10-29 03:18 viric has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds] 2014-10-29 03:23 viric has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 04:46 atommann has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds] 2014-10-29 05:07 jekhor has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 05:37 atommann has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 05:45 nicksydney has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 06:07 xiangfu has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 06:49 xiangfu has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds] 2014-10-29 07:32 Textmode has quit [Quit: "It was one dev, naked in a room with a carton of cigarettes, a thermos full of coffee and bourbon, and all his summoned angels."] 2014-10-29 07:49 xiangfu has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 07:54 xiangfu has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds] 2014-10-29 08:00 xiangfu has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 08:05 xiangfu has quit [Ping timeout: 272 seconds] 2014-10-29 08:05 xiangfu_ has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 08:52 pcercuei has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 09:39 arhuaco has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds] 2014-10-29 09:42 xiangfu_ has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 2014-10-29 09:52 arhuaco has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 10:06 jluis has quit [Quit: Me'n vaig] 2014-10-29 10:12 atommann has quit [Quit: Leaving] 2014-10-29 10:18 jekhor has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds] 2014-10-29 11:15 astr has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds] 2014-10-29 11:27 astr has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 11:34 astr has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds] 2014-10-29 11:38 jluis has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 11:46 astr has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 12:00 jluis has quit [Quit: Me'n vaig] 2014-10-29 12:02 jluis has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 12:04 jluis has quit [Client Quit] 2014-10-29 12:05 jluis has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 12:06 jekhor has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 12:24 jekhor_ has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 12:28 jekhor has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds] 2014-10-29 12:32 jluis has quit [Quit: Me'n vaig] 2014-10-29 12:33 jluis has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 12:41 jekhor_ has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds] 2014-10-29 12:42 jekhor_ has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 12:54 xiangfu has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 13:10 rejon has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds] 2014-10-29 13:13 jekhor_ has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds] 2014-10-29 13:24 rejon has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 13:29 zrafa has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds] 2014-10-29 13:30 xiangfu has quit [Ping timeout: 250 seconds] 2014-10-29 14:05 viric has quit [Ping timeout: 250 seconds] 2014-10-29 14:10 viric has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 14:22 arhuaco has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds] 2014-10-29 14:34 arhuaco has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 14:37 jekhor_ has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 15:00 jekhor_ has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds] 2014-10-29 15:21 xiangfu has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 15:56 https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nanosmart/talkase-the-must-have-accessory-for-a-mobile-lifes 2014-10-29 15:56 seen it? 2014-10-29 15:58 actually, it even looks interesting as the main phone :) 2014-10-29 16:05 xiangfu has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 2014-10-29 16:05 can it send SMS? 2014-10-29 16:08 by itself - probably not.. good point 2014-10-29 16:42 jekhor_ has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 17:09 jekhor_ has quit [Ping timeout: 255 seconds] 2014-10-29 17:47 pcercuei has quit [Ping timeout: 255 seconds] 2014-10-29 18:10 rejon has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds] 2014-10-29 18:43 pcercuei has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 18:50 jekhor_ has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 19:48 OMG that second-phone crappy sandwich again. age old silly idea 2014-10-29 19:49 I think I've first seen this sort of thing some 6 years ago 2014-10-29 20:23 jekhor_ has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds] 2014-10-29 20:42 astr has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds] 2014-10-29 20:46 Textmode has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 20:55 astr has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 21:22 bwahaha. this is from the people who say it's safer to store things in the cloud than locally: http://recode.net/2014/10/29/maker-of-retailer-apple-pay-competitor-has-already-been-hacked/ 2014-10-29 21:25 valhalla has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds] 2014-10-29 21:27 valhalla has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 21:59 nicksydney has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 2014-10-29 22:11 Coyo has quit [Ping timeout: 255 seconds] 2014-10-29 22:13 Coyo has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 22:28 nicksydney has joined #qi-hardware 2014-10-29 22:52 pcercuei has quit [Ping timeout: 265 seconds]
