<ormris> Anyone here got the gta-04?
<roh> jfyi
<wpwrak> roh: hah ! here you are ! :)
<wpwrak> roh: how can i tell curs through the board from inscriptions in protocase_v7_laser.dxf ?
<wpwrak> s/curs/cuts/
<qi-bot> wpwrak meant: "roh: how can i tell cuts through the board from inscriptions in protocase_v7_laser.dxf ?"
orsonzhai [orsonzhai!~orson@221.217.37.159] has joined #qi-hardware
<roh> eh.. hm.. wasnt it diffent layers or so?
<wpwrak> ah. layers. let's find out how these are encoded ...
<roh> uhm. nope.. meh
<roh> to be fair.. not sure.. i always used composites anyhow (multiple cases on one sheet)
<roh> the sheets i used in the end were 900x600mm
<roh> so... big dxf files.. with lots of cuts
<roh> last batch was 12 of these sheets
<wpwrak> yes, but how does the cutter shallow cuts and deep cuts apart ?
<wpwrak> Z always seems to be 0
<wpwrak> s/cutter/cutter tell/
<roh> i had seperated the lines when doing the matrix copys.. depending on what machine you need to prepare anyhow
<roh> some machines use line-with, some style, some color, some layer for laser-power settings
<wpwrak> grmph
<wpwrak> is protocase_v7_laser.dxf your "source" ? or is this derived from some other file ?
<roh> and often you dont have sane presets and do some tests and 'note down' the material color, type, vendor, thickness to power/cut-depth ratio
<roh> protocase_v7_laser.dxf is the 'source' for the derived files
<roh> i also have some where the 'slots' are wider (to the outside) up to 3.3mm... acryllic is evil when it comes to tolerances
<wpwrak> so how do you pick out the inscriptions ? to you mark them manually and then copy/move/delete them ?
<roh> 15-20% thickness tolerance is within normal
<roh> i marked them manually when doing the matrix copys
<wpwrak> phew :)
<wpwrak> you still have too much youthful energy :)
<roh> and on our machine i use multiple files for different power settings (and markers (small L rotated 90°cw)) in the upper left
<roh> outside of the object
<roh> heh.. you call that youthful energy? heh... you should see these commercial cad using kids working on stuff.. no clue about enslaving machines to do your work.
* roh hacked on a parametric cookie cutter 3d generator using openscad today
<wpwrak> nice :)

<wolfspraul> any idea about the mechanical of this? I will ask but right now just wondering where it's sourced/made, or if you look at it what ideas for cheap and good mechanical you have for this thing...

<kyak> they want to present my nephew (3yr old) a children notebook. Why not give him a Nanonote instead of this crap: http://www.indigo-kid.ru/category/exact_sciences/child_computers/ ? :)
<kyak> god, this industry is full of shit. And it costs well more than NanoNote\
<Jay7> kyak: you may buy real used notebook for this money :)
<Jay7> I've seen old thinkpads on ebay.com per about $200 :)
<kyak> or even give him my old laptop, good idea!
<Jay7> sure :)
<Jay7> but NN as child computer is good idea too
<Jay7> one NN per child :)
<Jay7> onpc :)
<kyak> it could be a problem from the software side - who knows where to find these "educational" children games?
<Jay7> onnpc even :)
<Jay7> well.. it depends..
<Jay7> I know good kde educational games
<Jay7> we may check ALT Linux Junior disto e.g. :)
<kyak> oh, it's still alive? :)
<kyak> ALT Linux, i mean
<Jay7> sure :)
<Jay7> I'm authorized partner ;)
<Jay7> omg..
<Jay7> 4.x
<Jay7> 6.x is out :)
<kyak> wtf is wronf with their website?
<kyak> the post news once in 13 months
<Jay7> english site is outdated
<Jay7> check .ru
<kyak> a little bit better.. but no Childen Linux here
<Jay7> kyak: yeah.. seems it inherited by school project
<kyak> it seems there is a load of linux children or educational games. Most of them are in English, that's probably not so good
<kyak> motivation to translate :)
<Jay7> kyak: check games you found on sisyphus.ru
<Jay7> they may already be translated :)
<kyak> first find some hardware :) seems you are/were using ALT Linux?
