* mrdata doesnt quite get it
<mrdata> but it is intriguing
<mrdata> if you do this, i want to see pictures

<Noxz> I got pre-screened (from Monster.com) for a job relating to lithography
<mrdata> Noxz, does that mean you will get an interview?
<Noxz> mrdata# no, it means that they will pass my resume onto the hiring manager
<Noxz> it's a programming position
<Noxz> and I need food...
<Noxz> bbl
* Textmode huggles food

<Noxz> revising my resume (because monster is stupid? didnt I give it to them already?) for this place
<mrdata> write a cover letter]
<mrdata> they have your resume already
<Noxz> hrrrmm
<Noxz> I was like 5 seconds away from hitting sen don the reply with all the info
<Noxz> they wanted a questionair filled out, plus my resume in a .doc
<Noxz> I think monster just parsed my PDF one
<Noxz> but yes, they would have kept the file.. I would think
<Noxz> but yeah, I do think I should write a cover letter
<Noxz> explain that I have become interested in MEMS
<Noxz> etc
<Noxz> that would be hillarious if I closed the cover letter with "so long, and thanks for all the fish"
<Noxz> wait.. that's how the movie started...
<Noxz> christ.. I'm still writing this thing?
<Noxz> nearly done though
<SpeedEvil> mrdata: basically - you have a sphere. This sphere has the bottom 10% ground off. The rest of the sphere has doping over its surface. You remove the doping from a ring around the base of the sphere, in order to isolate the base. You form a contact on the base, and it is contacted on the other surface by a grid of contacts, on a sheet of glass
<mrdata> what size scale is this?
<SpeedEvil> ~1mm
<SpeedEvil> Think sort-of BGA balls
<Noxz> dang, my cover letter is exactly 1 page
<Noxz> SpeedEvil# that's what I was thinking from your description
<SpeedEvil> Forming the two contacts as an annular ring, and a dot on the base and using a two layer medium to glue them on would also be interesting
<SpeedEvil> especially if you had leeeetle parabolic reflectors around each one
<SpeedEvil> for concentrators
<Noxz> ( I have no idea the context, don't mind me)
<SpeedEvil> Of course, the fun part is you need to do this for ~10^-4c/ball or so
<SpeedEvil> For extra fun.
<SpeedEvil> Make hollow silicon microspheres
<Noxz> undercutting?
<Noxz> and *SEND*
<Noxz> alright.. let's wait for mid next-week for a response
<Noxz> I am sure I would have access to SU-8 amongst other things if this job goes through
<Noxz> 1:15am, time for sleep
* SpeedEvil wishes he could get into his local fab.
<SpeedEvil> It's only 3 miles away
<Noxz> too many around me to count ;) ... silicon valley
<Noxz> bed time, for real

<SpeedEvil> why
nmz787_i has joined #homecmos
<_Sync_> because your lifetime will suck and you cannot contact your cells that way
<_Sync_> think about it, the enemy in your cell is the lifetime and even in good commercial CZ Si SRH recombination is the worst offender
<_Sync_> and you need a PN junction because otherwise it is impossible to actually contact it, look up ohmic and schottky contacts on Si
<_Sync_> (protip: Al sucks on n-type)
<SpeedEvil> hmm
<SpeedEvil> My skills as a semiconductor designer are about as decent as my skills at brain surgery.
