* speedevil sort-of-ponders buying azonenberg a FLIR one to tear down the lepton.
<speedevil> A 9hz 80*80 imager is cool. A 400hz one would be rather cooler
<azonenberg> If you have microscope food for me, i'll put it in the queue
<azonenberg> Just know that it's long
<speedevil> Alas I don't have $350 spare
<speedevil> It's a 80*80 IR SPI imager
<speedevil> with apparantly a FPGA inside, and internally 400FPS
<azonenberg> Oh, interesting
<azonenberg> And then rate-limited externally?
<speedevil> yes - it exposes 9FPS - the ITAR limit
<speedevil> 12FPS if you overclock :)
<azonenberg> lol
<azonenberg> But the raw imager is 400?
<azonenberg> is the fpga some kind of controller or just providing the SPI interface
<azonenberg> and is the raw chip interface doucmented?
<azonenberg> I dont have time towatch it right now
<speedevil> It's the FLIR one which glues to an iphone
<azonenberg> just curous
<speedevil> This is the SPI module which looks like a cellmo camera
<speedevil> The sensor is not realistically cheaply seperately available.
<speedevil> But just unplugs.

<azonenberg> No i mean the datasheet for the sensor
<speedevil> There isn[t one
<azonenberg> There isnt a public one, you mean
<speedevil> Well - duh.
<speedevil> You can buy the sensor for $250@1k
<speedevil> The datasheet is indeed not public
<speedevil> But mike reversed it enough to get images out of it - and it is much, much simpler than cellmo
<nats`> like almost all IR thermal imager
<nats`> I searched for that few years ago everything is NDAED
<speedevil> literally, supply a clock, and read out over SPI with little else
<nats`> and dev kit for inferior grade cost hundred of $
<azonenberg> I meant the datasheet of the raw sensor
<azonenberg> not of the FPGA+sensor subsystem
<speedevil> That's not sold.
mrdata has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
<speedevil> It's only sold as the cooked imager.
<azonenberg> Did mike scope the interface of the sensor or anything?
<azonenberg> how does anyone know its 400fps internally
<speedevil> The 400fps is implied by the short-form datasheet of the imager
